Managing Conflict in the Workplace

While we tend to view conflict as a negative experience, caused by abnormally difficult circumstances, it is a normal part of organization life. Approaching conflict as an opportunity for growth through improved understanding and insight – ultimately leads to a healthy, positive and cooperative environment.

This session will bring new awareness of people’s reactions to conflict and provide an opportunity for participants to identify conflict management styles and asses their own personal styles for dealing with conflict. Knowing and understanding one’s own style – and when and how to modify it, is essential for the success of every organization.

About the Speakers:

Linda Chammartin – Client Services Executive, People First HR Services

Linda’s career has taken her in many directions, from leading and building teams in operations and distribution in consumer packaged goods to the leadership of a recruitment division focused on identifying professional talent across a variety of industries throughout Manitoba and Saskatchewan. Drawing on a background that includes key operational, people and sales leadership roles and with her strong experience in client services, Linda focuses her expertise in providing services to clients covering a wide range of HR challenges, initiatives and people needs. Linda builds partnerships with a customer centric approach and strives to provide insights and offer the best solutions that support client’s goals and objectives.

 

Prior to joining People First, Linda held a number of senior leadership roles during her many years with The Pepsi Bottling Group guiding teams to success across Canada. There she gained hands on experience in owning a P&L, leading remote workforces, training and development, recruitment and coaching. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business and Marketing from Minnesota State University, Moorhead.

Steve Reynolds - Executive Director, Regional Connections Immigrant Services

Steve Reynolds is Executive Director at Regional Connections Immigrant Services, a local non-profit organization with offices in Morden, Winkler, and Altona. Regional Connections helps welcome newcomers to local communities with settlement, language, employment, and community connections services. Since 1998, the organization has worked with clients from more than 130 first countries who speak over 35 different languages. Along with newcomers and community partners, we are Building Community Together here in southern Manitoba!
