CPHR Pathways

In Manitoba, there are five paths to becoming a CPHR.

Path #1

  1. Bachelor degree in any field or discipline
    You are required to submit proof that you hold a minimum of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited Canadian college or university or the equivalent from a non-Canadian institution. If you received your degree within Canada, you will need to contact the university's registry and have your transcript sent directly to:

  2. Pass the National Knowledge Exam (NKE)

  3. Three (3) years professional-level experience within the past ten (10) years 
    > Canadian experience is not required 
    > Once becoming a CPHR Candidate, you have ten (10) years to complete the process to obtain the CPHR 


Path #2

  1. Pass the National Knowledge Exam (NKE)

  2. Eight (8) years professional-level experience within the past fifteen (15) years

    > Canadian experience is not required


Path #3

Option #1

  1. Credit level HR Certificate/Diploma program accredited by CPHR Manitoba/CPHR Canada

    > you must apply for a National Knowledge Exam (NKE) waiver


    List of Accredited Certificate/Diploma programs in Canada

Path #4

  1. Bachelor/MBA/Masters degree in Human Resources program accredited by CPHR Manitoba/CPHR Canada

    > you must apply for a National Knowledge Exam (NKE) waiver

    List of Accredited Certificate/Diploma programs in Canada 


  2. Three (3) years professional-level experience within the past ten (10) years

    > Canadian experience is not required 

    > Once becoming a CHRP Candidate, you have ten (10) years to complete the process to obtain the CPHR

Path #5

  1. Bachelor degree in any field or discipline

    You are required to submit proof that you hold a minimum of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited Canadian college or university or the equivalent from a non-Canadian institution.     OR

    Diploma in an HR program 

  2. Ten (10) years Professional HR Related Experience

    > Canadian experience is not required

     3. Hold or have held an executive role.

International Studies

If your degree is from outside Canada, you must have a basic report completed by either the World Education Services or International Qualifications Assessment Service then send the report directly to the following address:

Please note that you do not need to follow these steps in order. However, one will not be considered as a CPHR Candidate until the NKE exam is passed or an NKE waiver has been approved.
