The Critical Role of HR in Cybersecurity

Join us for a virtual fireside chat exploring the essential role Human Resources plays in strengthening organizational cybersecurity. As cyber threats increasingly target human behaviour, HR leaders are uniquely positioned to shape the culture, policies, and practices that reduce risk.

In this session, we’ll discuss how HR can partner with IT and security teams to build a security-minded workforce, provide direction on access management and insider threats, integrate cyber risk into talent management, support incident response, and drive behavioural change across the organization.

This conversation is ideal for HR professionals, senior leaders, and anyone interested in how people, culture, and cybersecurity intersect.


About the Presenters:

Marc Perreault - Marc is a Security and Privacy evangelist, people leader, consultant and engineer with over 20 years’ experience in IT and security combined. Marc holds his Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP) as well as his Certified Software Security Lifecycle Professional (CSSLP) certifications from ISC2 and specializes in governance, risk and compliance, incident response and infrastructure security.

Kathy Knight - Kathy is an executive leader working at the intersection of technology, education, and organizational strategy. She is Executive Director of the James W. Burns Executive Education Centre at the University of Manitoba, where she oversees programs in executive leadership, digital transformation, cybersecurity, governance, and business strategy. Known for her practical, systems-oriented approach, she helps leaders navigate disruption and build capacity for the digital economy. Kathy previously led Tech Manitoba and CyberWave at the Manitoba Institute of Trades and Technology. She holds a Master of Arts in Higher Education Leadership and training in cybersecurity fundamentals. 


About the Series:
The Executive Breakfast Series consists of in-person and virtual breakfast meetings where HR executives come together to discuss important issues and trends affecting their workplaces. Each session is typically 40-45 minutes on a topic of interest followed by 15-20 minutes of questions and discussion with participants.


Please Note: These meetings are limited to HR executives or HR senior leadership.
Executives in non-HR roles are also welcome to join us. Executives are permitted to sponsor a senior staff person to attend but should be in attendance with that staff person on event day. CPHR Manitoba reserves the right to cancel registrations for those not at a senior management level.
