The Hiring Confidence Index in Manitoba – which results from HRMAM’s semi-annual Manitoba HR Trends survey - for the next six months (62.5) is the same as the confidence in Western Canada (62.5). This is down only slightly from the survey in fall 2015 (64 for Manitoba, 62.8 for Western Canada).
About the Hiring Confidence Index
The Hiring Confidence Index was created to measure how Manitoba employers feel about hiring over the next six months. The index emphasizes how confident HR Professionals are that they can hire the right people to fill open positions; it also incorporates views on growth in the number of positions.
The index is made up of both an expectation of hiring levels over the next six months, but also the confidence respondents have in finding the right people to fill vacancies.
The majority of respondents in Manitoba (54%) expect the total number of employees in their organization to remain the same over the next six months. For organizations that anticipate a change in the number of employees, a trend towards increasing in size was seen, with 31% of organizations anticipating an increase in size, while only 12% anticipate a decrease. Manitoba’s growth was the second highest among all western provinces.
The majority of Human Resources Professionals are confident that they can find workers with equivalent experience and qualifications to fill open positions. With only 13% of respondents indicating a worry that they will not be able to fill vacancies with suitable candidates, Manitoba HR professionals have the least concerns of all western provinces in attracting qualified employees.
About Manitoba HR Trends Report and Western Canada HR Trends Report
In June 2016, HR Professionals from Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia were invited to participate in the Western Canada HR Trends Survey. This survey, conducted twice per year, results in the production of two reports for HRMAM members: the Western Canada HR Trends Report and the Manitoba HR Trends Report.
These reports are tools for HR practitioners and departments in Manitoba to make informed decisions with reliable information on what is occurring in Manitoba’s workplace. Good labour market information can help human resources practitioners make better decisions in giving human resources advice to their stakeholders. HRMAM has commissioned this report to help fill the labour information void for our members and to discover industry benchmarks that can help human resources professionals make better talent management decisions.
The full results of the Western Canada HR Trends Report and Manitoba HR Trends Report will be released in September 2016.
