The HR Excellence Awards celebrates and recognizes the HR professionals who display effective strategic people leadership and organizations that implement significant and impactful HR initiatives. The Awards are an important component of CPHR Manitoba’s work to elevate the HR profession, highlight leading practices and celebrate HR excellence across Manitoba.

Can someone nominate themselves for a Professional Excellence award?

Yes, you are free to nominate yourself. Many past finalists and recipients have resulted from self-nominations.

Can multiple people nominate the same individual?

Yes, during the Part One nomination process, multiple people can nominate the same individual or initiative. However, for Part Two, only one application will be evaluated.

If we receive multiple nominations for a single individual or initiative, we will notify those nominators. That way, they have the option of working together to combine nominations to produce a stronger application.

Can organizations apply for more than one Business Excellence award?

Yes, if an organization has more than one unique HR initiative, each of those initiatives can be nominated for an award.

However, a single initiative cannot be nominated for awards in multiple categories. If you are unsure which award category is the best fit for an initiative, CPHR Manitoba Staff are happy to offer guidance.

What if I'm unsure which category fits best?

During the Part One nomination stage, we encourage you to select the award category you believe is the best fit. We offer detailed information packages for each award category so you can make an informed decision. The Awards Evaluation Committee reviews all Part One nominations. If they come across a nomination that they believe would be a better fit in another category, they pass that info on to CPHR staff who will then pass that guidance back to the nominator. The nominator can then make the final decision of which category to move forward with for the Part Two award application.

Can previous applicants apply again?

Yes. For business awards, organizations that have previously applied can apply again with a new initiative. They can also apply with the same initiative if there have been significant changes or additional, unanticipated results that can be clearly demonstrated.

For professional excellence awards, recipients of an award are not eligible to apply for that specific award category again.

Do I have to be a CPHR member?

Yes, in order to be eligible for a Professional Excellence award (excluding the Visionary Award) you must be a CPHR Manitoba member in good standing at the time of the award presentation.

For the Business Excellence Awards, worthy HR initiatives can be submitted by both members and non-members. There is no membership requirement to submit a business award nomination on behalf of an organization.
