NKE Pre-Course Requirement Extended
April 23, 2020
To set the bar for academic comprehension, establish a standard for educational requirements and build on credibility of the CPHR designation, CPHR Canada will be adding a new requirement that’s applicable for anyone writing the National Knowledge Exam (NKE).
Individuals who have not graduated from a CPHR Canada member association’s Post-Secondary Institution (PSI) Accreditation Program, or have not covered the courses in an equivalent program, and wish to write the NKE will be required to enrol in the nine accredited HR courses offered by CPHR Manitoba in partnership with Captus Press Inc. These nine foundational courses meet the CPHR Competency Framework.
As of January 2022, CPHR Manitoba will be adding a new educational requirement that must be completed prior to writing the National Knowledge Exam (NKE). This requirement is applicable unless the individual is covered by another eligible path.
You may recall we had initially indicated the start date for the pre-courses to be January 2021, but since the COVID-19 pandemic the world has changed. Our goal has always been to provide the highest level of support to our members, which is why we've decided to extend the pre-course requirement.
Please note: Members can apply to write the Spring or Fall NKE from 2019-2021 without taking any pre-courses.
Starting January 1, 2022, you will need to prove that you meet the educational requirements in order to write the NKE; therefore, if you plan to enrol in the June 2022 NKE, please ensure that you have successfully completed all nine accredited HR courses offered by CPHR Manitoba. An exception to the start date will be made if you have written the exam (and failed) and are still within the timeframe of your three attempts.
If you have successfully completed any courses that are equivalent to any of the listed courses offered, you may be able to transfer credits.
Further information will be available in the coming months.
Graduates from Accredited Programs
If you are a graduate from one of our listed CPHR Post-Secondary Institution (PSI) Accreditation Programs but do not meet our educational requirements - passing with an average of 70% or more, or grade-point average of 3.0 or higher - you will not be required to enrol in the accredited HR courses offered by CPHR Manitoba for up to 10 years upon graduation.
Four of the nine pre-courses are now available. Click here for more info.
