Bill 233, The Chartered Professionals in Human Resources Act, to come into force on June 1!

April 23, 2025

At the 2025 HR Excellence Awards on April 10, Minister Adrien Sala brought greetings on behalf of Premier Wab Kinew. During his speech, he shared a major announcement that Bill 233, The Chartered Professional in Human Resources Act, will officially be proclaimed and come into force on June 1, 2025.

"Your dedication and excellence in the field of human resources are essential to the continued growth and success of our province," said Minister Sala, acknowledging the vital contributions of HR professionals across Manitoba.

This legislation marks a significant milestone, officially recognizing CPHRs under provincial law and solidifying the CPHR designation as the gold standard in human resources. For HR professionals, CPHRs, and businesses, this means enhanced credibility, increased professional standards, and greater public trust in the HR function.

“This has been a long and significant journey,” said CPHR Manitoba CEO, Ron Gauthier, reflecting on the path since the bill received royal assent in 2023. The proclamation of Bill 233 is not just a win for CPHRs, it’s a defining moment for the future of the profession in Manitoba.
