Join CPHR Manitoba in celebrating Proclamation!

Join us to celebrate a historic milestone for the Human Resources profession in Manitoba. The Chartered Professionals in Human Resources Act received royal assent in 2023. Minister Sala announced on April 10, 2025 that Bill 233 will officially be proclaimed and come into force on June 1, 2025. This Act establishes HR as a self-regulated profession, strengthening protections for employers, employees, and our economy. Raise a glass with us as we mark the beginning of this new era for HR in Manitoba!

Date:
Wednesday, June 4th, 2025

Time: 4:30pm - 6:30pm, Formal remarks will take place at 6:00pm

What is Royal Assent?
To become law, a Bill that passes all stages in the House must receive Royal Assent from the Lieutenant Governor.

What is Proclamation?
A proclamation is a formal announcement made by the Lieutenant Governor under the Great Seal of the Province of Manitoba pursuant to an Order in Council. Proclamation sets the coming-into-force date. In our case, that will be June 1, 2025.

Self-regulation does require CPHR Manitoba to take on a public protection mandate to ensure that all their members uphold the standards of professional practice and code of ethics. CPHR Manitoba now has legislative title protection of CPHR and authority to regulate the profession.

For employers in Manitoba, hiring a CPHR is now the best way to ensure they are protecting their organizations, their employees and the public within their HR practice. For HR practitioners, becoming a CPHR provides more authority and opportunity to affect best practice than ever before.
