Ignoring Harassment Complaint Invites Legal Liability

The duty to investigate employee misconduct is now both legislatively and procedurally engraved in the workplace. Despite the inclusion of workplace investigation procedures their policies, a recent decision shows that although the investigation procedure exists in workplaces, employers are not always certain and/or willing to initiate the investigation; and their failure to seriously investigate a complaint when triggered has, over the past year, become a costly pitfall.
