The 2015 HRMAM Conference ‘Involve/Evolve’ examines the relationship between involving people and evolving organizations. On Oct. 27 and 28, HR and leadership professionals across Manitoba will gather at the RBC Convention Centre in Winnipeg to learn about the ways their organization can emerge as a leader in an ever-changing and exciting industry.
Here are the eight top reasons you need to be there:
1) Spark some New Ideas
See Christine Cashen present ‘Stop Global Whining’ — a fast-paced, hilarious take on what to do when you’re forced to do more with less. Cashen has over 15 years of experience helping professionals across North America, as well as South Africa and Australia. She is the authority on sparking innovative ideas, handling conflict, reducing stress and energizing employees. A down-to-earth mentor, Cashen will often talk about her “hottie engineer” husband, her pet peeves or growing up in an Italian/Irish household — in the end, you can’t help but relate to her experiences, struggles and lessons.
2) Learn the New Math
‘The 10-80-10 Principle’ developed by Sunjay Nath, improves results and performances by individuals and teams by focusing on best practices with small wins to help people empower themselves. Nath is a Certified Speaking Professional, and with an undergraduate degree in Mathematical Engineering, he offers a rare combination of left and right brain activities to engage all audience members and reveal the potential in all of us.
3) Flatten your Army
Dan Pontefract championed the TELUS Leadership Philosophy, improving employee engagement from 53 to 85 per cent. Now, he’s back with the Flat Army model, which encourages and creates a connected and engaged organization. Pontefract demonstrates how to improve organizational culture by unleashing the connecting, collaborating and participating behaviours across all employees in support of a customer first approach.
4) Improve your selfie-image
Beth Bell will encourage you to take a selfie — and challenge whether you like what you see. She wants you to get strategic about your personal brand by knowing your true and authentic self in order to strengthen your role within the organization. Drawing from her own experience at IBM Global Business Services, Bell talks about her perspectives on leadership and the eminence, which creates your unique promise of value and personal brand.
5) Breakout from the Everyday
Over two days of concurrent breakout sessions, you’re sure to find topics that involve you and evolve your career, such as inspiring action through communication, conducting effective workplace investigations, or taking succession planning off the chart. Each session offers you the chance to meet industry experts and mentors face-to-face — and inspiring new ideas to bring back to your organization.
6) See and Be Seen
Catch up with colleagues, rub shoulders with influencers and increase your LinkedIn connections. There will be plenty of opportunities to meet and mingle throughout the two-day event.
7) Get your Hourly Bonus
By attending the conference, HR professionals will earn CHRP Continuing Professional Development Hours. And like the conference itself, CPD Hours aim to hone your skills in the HR profession through mastering modern and innovative HR skills and practices.
8) Become a Workplace Leader
Bring inspiration back to your workplace with new ideas to increase productivity and increase the cohesiveness of your organization. With so many opportunities over two days — we can’t wait to see what you accomplish.
