CPHR Renewal Requirements

IMPORTANT INFORMATION - PLEASE READ CAREFULLY

As a CPHR member you are required to be a member in good standing with CPHR Manitoba in order to maintain your designation. This means that you must meet the following criteria by May 31:

1) Renew and pay for your CPHR Manitoba membership

CPHR Manitoba must receive payment for your membership by May 31.

If your employer pays your membership dues be sure to put your request for payment in early. Late fees will not be reduced for payments received after May 31.

Renewal Dues Assistance and Payment Plans

Renewal Dues Assistance is available for FCPHR, CPHR and CPHR Candidate members during the annual renewal period (March 1 – May 31) to assist members for their dues during times when they may not be working full-time in the HR profession. Required documentation must be provided and indicate that the reason for the assistance request is impacting the member at the time of renewal. CPHR Manitoba also offers customizable payment plans for annual membership dues.

  • To request renewal dues assistance, please fill out our online form here
  • To request a payment plan for your membership dues, please fill out our online form here.
*You will be asked to sign-in to your account to access the above forms. Retroactive requests for renewal dues assistance will not be approved. These requests are separate from requests for Leaves of Absence from CPD.

2) Complete your Continuing Professional Development (CPD) log

Please ensure your online CPD log is up to date when you renew your membership and that you meet all of the minimum requirements for the annual CPD report by May 31, 2026 including (some exceptions may apply):

  • 60 hours of activity accumulated in any consecutive three (3) year window including a minimum of three (3) hours related to ethics training
  • 10 hours (minimum) of activity in each given year

Leaves of Absence from CPD – Family or Personal Leave

CPHR Manitoba also offers CPHR members the opportunity to apply for a Leave of Absence (LOA) from their CPD requirement. More information about leaves of absences can be found in the CPD Handbook

3) Code of Ethics and Rules of Professional Conduct (The Code)

The Code of Ethics and Rules of Professional Conduct identifies and outlines the standards of behaviour relating to fairness, justice, truthfulness, and social responsibility for all CPHRs. As part of the renewal process, you will be asked to declare that you commit to adhere to The Code.

You will be asked to confirm whether you've notified CPHR Manitoba of any changes to your Good Character Attestation questions since your last membership renewal. If you had changes and you did not inform us of those changes, you will need to contact the Standards and Membership Manager (kaylee@cphrmb.ca) as soon as possible.

Consequences of Not Meeting the Above Criteria

Failure to maintain an active membership and complete your CPD log to meet all minimum requirements are breaches of The Code. Failure to meet the criteria set out in The Code may result in the revocation of your CPHR designation.

CPD Audit

Three percent (3%) of all CPHR members will have their logs audited annually. Upon being chosen for audit, you must provide supporting documents for all CPD hours gained in the previous three (3) year period within 30 days. More information about the CPD audit can be found in the CPD Handbook
